FAQ

What is the best material for commercial outdoor restaurant furniture?

For most patios, powder-coated aluminum is the best all-round frame material: it does not rust, it is light enough to stack and move nightly, and it can be coated in any color. Pair it with solution-dyed outdoor fabrics, quick-dry foam and stainless fasteners. Teak suits resort looks if you accept weathering or oiling. Steel is cheaper and heavier but will rust wherever the coating chips, so we avoid it for coastal and rooftop sites.

Can outdoor booths really be left out in the rain?

Yes, if they are built for it. Our outdoor booths have perforated seat decks pitched to drain, open-cell quick-dry foam that lets water pass straight through, aluminum frames and raised plinths. Water drains instead of pooling. Cushions still dry faster and last longer if staff tip them up or store them in long wet spells, and you should never treat an indoor booth with an outdoor fabric as an outdoor booth.

How much space do I need per seat on a restaurant patio?

A common planning range is about 15-18 sq ft (1.4-1.7 m²) per seat for table-service patios, including aisles, and more for loose lounge seating. Booth runs along a wall are the most space-efficient. Your local code sets occupant load and exit rules, and accessible routes need at least 36 in (91 cm) clear width under ADA. Check your final layout with your architect or permit office.

Where is Alfresco Seat furniture made?

In EASEN's own production base in Lecong, Foshan, in China's Guangdong province, the world's largest furniture trading hub. We do not have a US warehouse or workshop. We manufacture to order and ship direct by sea, which is why we can build custom lengths, colors and fabrics without carrying stock.

How long does a custom patio furniture order take?

Typically 30-45 days for standard designs and 45-60 days for custom work, counted from approval of shop drawings and any sample, plus ocean transit and customs clearance. Your quote confirms the timeline for your specific items. For a spring opening, we recommend fixing the layout in winter so furniture lands before the season.

Do you make streetery and roadway dining furniture?

Yes. Our streetery systems include knock-down booths for seasonal removal, booths with built-in water ballast chambers that act as the barrier, curb-gutter bridge pieces, planter-backed booths and anchored lockable benches. Every city program has its own rules, so send us the design guide and we will build to its dimensions and details.

Which outdoor fabric and foam do you use?

We specify solution-dyed acrylic or polyester outdoor fabrics, where pigment runs through the fiber for fade resistance, over open-cell reticulated quick-dry foam. Cushions get ties, snaps or webbing underneath against wind. You can also supply your own fabric (COM): we will tell you the yardage per piece on the drawing.

Does outdoor furniture need to meet fire codes?

Usually fewer rules apply outdoors than indoors, but rooftop terraces, covered or tented patios and some streetery programs can bring requirements for furniture, umbrellas or enclosures, for example NFPA 701 for fabric structures. We specify fire-retardant foams and fabrics to your market's rules on request and supply test reports for specific items where available. Confirm with your local fire marshal.

How do I stop patio furniture blowing away on a rooftop?

Use heavier chair models or ones without wind-catching solid backs, weighted table bases matched to the table size, booths fixed or ballasted, and an umbrella policy that closes umbrellas in strong wind. Rope or slatted backs let wind pass through. On exposed rooftops, chair-to-table tethers or anchored booths may be needed; ask your structural engineer about anchoring to the roof deck.

Can I order a sample before committing to a full patio?

Yes. We can make a pre-production sample of a chair or a short booth section, or send frame, cord and fabric swatches. Samples are quoted separately and shipped by air or courier. Many clients approve one chair and one booth sample, then order the full run.

What shipping terms do you offer for US and EU orders?

We quote FOB (you or your forwarder book the ocean freight), CIF to your destination port, or DDP delivered with duties and clearance handled. Tariffs on furniture imported from China change, so your quote will state what is included. Booth panels and tables flat-pack where possible to reduce container volume.

How should we store outdoor furniture over winter?

Clean everything first, since dirt and bird droppings hold moisture against coatings. Stack chairs on pallets, bring cushions indoors to a dry, ventilated room, and cover booths with breathable covers rather than sealed plastic to avoid condensation. Our knock-down streetery booths flat-pack for storage. Check glides and fasteners before spring set-up.

Are your chairs ADA compliant?

ADA requirements apply to dining surfaces and routes rather than to chairs themselves. At least 5% of seating at dining surfaces must be accessible, with a surface 28-34 in high and knee clearance of at least 27 in. We size tables to suit and leave accessible spaces in booth layouts; your architect confirms compliance.

Do you offer a warranty on outdoor furniture?

Warranty terms depend on the frame, coating and fabric specified and on the site exposure, so they are stated in each quote rather than as one blanket figure. We will tell you clearly what is covered for your specification and what normal outdoor weathering looks like.
